I had two, wild, Great Aunts, Gussie and Pauline, that were strippers as young sisters growing up in New York. Well into their 90s they’d lift their short poodle skirts when they were on the dance floor to the shock and delight of the younger dancers. This piece is about how good stories become like small theatres that we hold in our hands to play in our imaginations. This theatre box is constructed from scrap wood and a piece of velvet that was used to wrap a doll I got at a garage sale. The body is two pieces of fused glass with hair made from a frayed drape rope. The small stripper figure is made from three glass beads I sculpted on a torch. The pole is from an old music stand. 26" x 13" Shipping included.
