Mitch Berg - Digging Elephants
The head is an old shovel of mine that broke. I plasma cut the eye holes and filled them with fused glass eyes. It’s amazing how eyes bring the inanimate to life. The ears are made from scrap metal and filed with fused glass which required three firings. The body is the lid of a 50 gallon drum I found in Texas. The arms are also made from shovel tips. The legs are an amazing find in an old cabin near engineers pass. They are the cast iron legs from an old wood burning stove, circa 1940s. If you look closely, those engraved legs resemble elephant faces which gave me the idea for this piece. It hangs on a wall and I like to hang it so it’s standing on the ground. 3' tall. Free Shipping.
