The Rabbit vases are Raku vases. Raku firing involves removing a red-hot vessel and placing it in a container of combustible materials, leaving the vessel to cool in a reduction atmosphere. The process requires introducing oxygen at strategic times during the cooling in order to achieve the desired glaze effects. The Rabbit Vases illustrate how the introduction of oxygen creates variation in the glaze from reds, to blues, to greens. Midnight in the Forest is sawdust fired Terra Sigillata and it gets it’s violet hue from the use of mica in the clay slip. The vases are 9”/7”/3”. These vessels are porous and are purely decorative. I do not recommend putting water in them, dry arrangements only.

Choose from: Rabbit Copper Red ($145), Rabbit Copper Green ($145), Midnight in the Forest Violet ($125)
